MIXES FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE. ENJOY!
Dub Selector:
This is live recording of my opening set for Bedouin Soundclash at Mercury Lounge in June ‘09. It’s mostly classic dub & reggae with a little Daleduro thrown in.
Star Point:
Starpoint includes some of my favorite deep & soulful tracks & remixes in ‘05. There’s great remixes of classics by Cymande, Edwin Starr & Eddy Grant as well as some Osunlade & Ian Friday.
Sacred Love:
A friend who was recently ordained asked me for a selection of sacred music, so I dug for some of my favorites from all around the world. We start in Mali with Oumou Sangare, next stop Brazil with Virginia Rodriguez, followed by different regions in India, Cuba and the US.
Summer ‘07:
If you need a little pep in your step these last days of summer, take a listen to this selection of music from 7 Samurai, Kid Gusto, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Omar, Aaron Jerome, Lewis D, Peven Everett, Pth Projects, Ben Westbeech and Ian Friday.
Mini House ‘07:
This short but sweet mini mix brings some of my favorite house songs this past year from some great friends – Phil Asher “Tricks,” Simbad’s “Supersonic Revelation,” Koop “Drum Rhythms A,” and a short bit of Ben Westbeech “Hang Around” Marathon Men Mix.
Drum & Bass ‘99:
For those of you big into D&B, this is a treat. I had the last minute chance to open up for LTJ Bukem at Vinyl in March 1999 and this is a live recording. Listen to selections from 4Hero, Blu Mar Ten, Amalgamation of Soundz, Hospital Recs and Good Looking.
Soul ‘07:
On this mix recorded for The Fader’s Suite 903 soul series, Moni spreads the love on the soulful side of things.
Colombia Live! From East Village Radio:
This one is taken from her guest spot at East Village Radio’s “Never Not Working” show. It’s a taste of Colombian music for your ears – cumbia, salsa, vallenato, and other afro-Caribbean rhythms. Thanks to Radio Rios & Oskar Mann for the invite.
Peace, Love, Unity & Having Fun:
This is a mix I did a couple of years ago but is quite right for the end of the year festivities. The title sums up what we’d like in the new year with lotsa cheddar sprinkled on top. These songs will definitely make you dig up some old dance moves from back in the day. Afrika Bambaata, James Brown, Lyn Collins, Rob Base (yes, you read right), Queen Latifah, Roy Ayers, Straffe and Ciara (weird, I know). Hope you enjoy it… Happy New Year!
Broken Beat Soul:
This mini mix gives you a taste of broken beat and soul featuring Aloe Blacc, Daz-I-Kue with Bembe Segue and John Arnold with Paul Randolf.
Funk In Yo Trunk:
This is a short but funkafied mix including some of my favorites. Here’s the playlist :: Cymande – Fug / Coke Escovedo – I Wouldn’t Change A Thing / Plantlife – Luv 4 The World and Red Astaire – Tito. In joy!
Viva La Musica:
This is a Latin mini mix that follows Funk in Yo Trunk. It’s got Joe Arroyo, Charlie Palmieri and Ray Barretto doing three of my favorite jams. It packs a lot of punch, passion and beauty.
